Clients...Things I Love

"I AM A DESIGNER NOT A FUCKING SCREWDRIVER"
A global message for clients around the word who believe that a designer is a mere tool to execute their ugly ideas.

                                                                                               Unknown

Now if I didn't have the Shit Ass Disease I would never say that......

Speaking of clients.
I installed my very first job as a designer, I was so excited and felt a little accomplished.  The phone rang that evening and it was my client, I just knew she was going to tell me how much she loved the window treatments.  Well turns out she was in her spa and drunk.  I mean shit faced drunk.  She informed me that she didn't like the window treatments and I am putting it nicely.  I told her I was surprised but that I would come by in the morning to pick them up.  I hung up the phone and cried, then got pissed.  How dare this drunk ass bitch call me at night drunk and speak to me that way.  Well the next morning I rang the door bell nervous and pissed as I could be.  She answered the door a little surprised that I was there.  She then informed me how much she LOVED the window treatments and she wanted me to look at another room to do.  I looked at her and said, "Do me a favor, don't call me ever again and I won't call you".  The bitch was so drunk she didn't even remember calling me!

I ended up designing model homes for 15  years, 13 of those years was for one particular builder.  We were usually, well always on the same page.  I would show him my ideas and he would say go ahead.  Models were a lot of fun because you were usually forced to be creative making memory points.   You've all seen them.  Whether its a bold wallpaper behind shelves or graphics on the wall in a game room.  I have even put wallpaper on a beamed ceiling then tea stained it.

One of the last model projects I worked on was for the W South Tower and The House condominiums in Victory Park in downtown Dallas.  Very contemporary with killer views of downtown.  Here are a few pics of these condominiums.
